Buenos Aires, November 22 (NA) – President Javier Milei announced that Alejandra Monteoliva and Carlos Presti will assume office as the new Ministers of Security and Defense, respectively. The national leader formalized the departure of Bullrich and Petri before they are due to take their seats in the Senate and Chamber of Deputies on December 10. "The Office of the President informs that the current Secretary of Security, Alejandra Monteoliva, will be the new Minister of National Security," states the official communiqué, as seen by the Argentine News Agency. Furthermore, the Office stated that the official "has been a key piece of the 'Bullrich Doctrine,' which establishes as a priority the frontal fight against narco-terrorism and criminal organizations, and the maintenance of the rule of law and order in the streets of the Argentine Republic". Meanwhile, the current "Chief of the General Staff of the Army, Lieutenant General Carlos Alberto Presti, will leave his post to assume as the new Minister of Defense". "For the first time since the return of democracy, a person with an impeccable military career who has reached the highest rank in the hierarchy will be at the head of the Ministry of Defense," indicated the Office. In this way, the Government expressed that "a tradition is inaugurated" that it hopes politics can continue "from now on" to give "an end to the demonization of officers, non-commissioned officers, and soldiers". The Executive Branch pointed out that the two appointments are "a continuity of the course that these ministries undertook on December 10, 2023" with Bullrich and Petri, and "their imprint will remain for the rest of this administration".
